It uses its own AI models to analyze video content from any camera, locate desired events, generate intelligent highlights, and combine them with data streams, statistics, and sensor data.
AISpotter has worked with one of the European innovative broadcasting company (YLE) sports productions with EURO2020. In practice, one video editor is usually responsible for ensuring that the highlights of the competition are offered to viewers as short videos (clips) on online services. This was also the case this year when the sporting summer of all time offered us great goals from the EURO2020-tournament and dazzling performances from athletes in the Olympic Games at Tokyo.
“Was this the most amazing goal of the tournament?” or “Magnificent performance by Pohjanpalo!”These are clips that drove a lot of spectators to Yle platforms on the opening days of the EURO2020. Those videos were cut by Yle Urheilu’s online editorial team, but now these top human professionals are getting a hard competition from Finnish artificial intelligence.
Yle tested AI-technology developed by the Finnish startup AISpotter. The artificial intelligence analyzes each match, identifies the goals and cuts short videos of them, and automatically publishes them to Yle’s platform – within 10 minutes of the match being over. Once the artificial intelligence is put to work, the whole process does not require human labor at all.
AISpotter has clients across Europe and is being used from sports to moose spotting and predictive crime analysis. The technology enables streaming companies and sports clubs to scale up their video production capabilities using the existing resources. AISpotter can analyze large numbers of simultaneous matches saving hours of production time. It automatically generates highlights for corner kicks, goals, and other game events.
AISpotter was founded in 2018 when a university vision AI project was first used to help sports teams quickly get the best information from game videos. Its algorithms have already mastered the issues with different equipment, setups and the recognition of such a variety of different activities from soccer to moose watching, whereas others are not nearly as advanced.
