About two years ago, I had the pleasure of going to the Dominican Republic on business. When I got to the airport, I was surprised to find out that there was a US$20 charge to get into the country and also that prostitution was legal. This was a huge eye opener for me. Firstly, I knew nothing about the fee to enter prior and I definitely didn't know anything about the prostitution aspect, as prostitution is illegal on my side of the Caribbean. As I got to my hotel, everything seemed really great. Developed real estate, lovely vehicles etc... Until I saw the public transport, of which I can describe only as the most dilapidated buses I've ever seen. This opened my eyes as to how misleading what I was seeing really was, and also that I truly didn't know the Caribbean region which I called home. This sparked the idea of Cariway. A way for travelers to truly experience a country, and not just the facade that tourism may want you to see, while also allowing the locals to benefit through the bookings and to possible spark a change for nations because of the attention that may come.

What makes you different from your competition (Price, Quality, Delivery, Culture)?

There are a few differences. Within the Caribbean, e-commerce is yet to take off. Dealing with a tour operator currently means: - waiting until you get to the island - ask (shop) around to find a service you want at a decent price - (services/tours are usually cliche) - contact them and pay cash - get the service With Cariway, it goes like: - See unique experiences on the platform; - Book and pay before even getting to the island; - Receive your experience; - Write a review about it online and tell your friends. Cariway also offers special benefits, such as free local souvenirs on a lot of the tours, a higher authority to report a tour operator to which can result in a refund, more security as we'd have all records of communication (once done within the site) and more. Also, experiences on the platform are typically more unique than what you'd get from another tour agency. A lot of these experiences are offered by the 'average Joe'. So you end up getting a non-generic caribbean experience while going to 'non-generic' locations.
