Thomas M. Coester is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in a broad range of intellectual property matters including acquisition, protection and monetization of both patents and trademarks. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa. Tom has successfully prosecuted hundreds of patents and trademarks in more than forty-five jurisdictions including throughout the European Community and Asia. He has counseled large corporations, start-up companies, and individuals on developing, building, and maintaining intellectual property portfolios, both domestically and internationally. Tom has conducted proactive threat analyses to protect companies from infringement claims and piracy. He has counseled clients on effective risk mitigation; both offensive and defensive. Tom has conducted domestic and international seminars in the areas of claims drafting practice, patent prosecution, trademark usage and licensing.
