About Event

WHERE: Santa Monica, CA
YC CEO Garry Tan recently warned: “Startups rarely die from market wounds—they implode under fractures in the founder’s psyche.” Investors are noticing too: Felicis pioneered a 1% Founder Development Pledge. Seven Seven Six doubled it.
Join Dr. Joe Mannion, founder of Meet The Moment Inc, to explore how sport and performance psychology can help founders grow in tandem with their startups. Attendees will leave with a practical template (created by colleagues with Teams Denmark and Switzerland) for using mindfulness and core values to build clarity, resilience, and a more meaningful journey.
Experts from Elite Psychology Group in Los Angeles, where Joe is completing his postdoc, will also be available for conversation with attendees.
Recovery-supporting beverages and pre-dinner snacks will be provided by local startups, including Barcode, founded by former Los Angeles Lakers Director of Performance Mubarak “Bar” Malik.
About the Speaker:
Joe Mannion, Psy.D., completed his doctorate in clinical psychology with specialization in neuropsychology at Pepperdine (internship at Wake Forest) and training in sport and performance psychology at GSU (M.S.) and Victoria University (Australia). He is a regular contributor at Teams Switzerland and Denmark’s ‘mindfulness in elite sport’ thought summits. He has authored numerous publications, including for Cambridge University Press’ Mindfulness & Performance and the most widely used sport psychology textbook, and has collaborated with athletes from Ironman to the UFC.
Joe is a former elite athlete who now help startup founders sustain high performance and well-being. This event is a part of #LATechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.
